Ok, so it looks like I didn't understand your issue--and I'm quoting myself

I'm not on Windows so I don't have the plug-in configured for your system but have you removed the cr2hdr.lrplugin\bin\lib directory? You may also want to try the latest version of ExifTool. (They have updated it to version 9.99 recently and I haven't checked it out yet.)

Apparently there are two fixes that work for Windows, replacing the lib directory in the plug-in with an updated one or simply removing the lib directory. I'd go for the simplest solution.

Just a warning for Mac users--I just tried out ExifTool 9.99 and the installer will remove the previous version in /usr/bin and put the new version in /usr/local/bin. That is probably a better place for it but it breaks the plug-in. I made a symbolic link to it in /usr/bin and it did work (moving the files should also work) so it looks like maybe something is hard coded to /usr/bin/exiftool instead of searching the $path?

The error he described:
Processed file has no exif but good exposure with plug-in out-of-the box.

There is also the part about the same plug-in working fine in LR 5.5 but not in LR 6. --or did he change LR version and plug-in version at the same time? That would be changing two variables.

In any case I'm on a Mac and Lightroom CC 2015.1 so I should stay out of Windows LR 6 issues.

Regarding the Mac ExifTool issue I just discovered--it would be nice if the plug-in uses the exiftool and dcraw that kichetof put in cr2hdr.lrplugin/bin but it uses the system wide versions instead. I checked the cr2hdr source code in the unified branch but don't see anything that would make /usr/bin/exiftool work and not /usr/local/bin/exiftool, they are both in the $path. Is the cr2hdr in the plug-in a different version?

BTW--I still haven't heard from kichetof though I did find someone by the same name in Switzerland.

Thanks for the files. I'm able to reproduce your error in LR CC on Windows 8.1. Have to play around a bit now.

EDIT: File made with 7D just works fine with both configurations.
Big question now is which application is messing up with 70D files. LR or cr2hdr?

Guys, please test in OS X and report back.

Sounds like it's related to the cr2hdr binary which may need to be replaced with latest in order to work with 70D files?

It's an Adobe issue. ACR simply refuses to load any DNG file that has CameraModel=Canon EOS 70D.

I would suggest seeing what happens when running a vanilla 70D CR2 through Adobe DNG converter.

EDIT: going through Adobe DNG converter from a sample 70D CR2 I found on the internet seems to work. The thing to do would be to start stripping out metadata to figure out what particular missing/added metadata is causing problems when CameraModel=Canon EOS 70D

Tested and reproduced the same error. This is very strange because the dual iso cr2 that @DeafEyeJedi posted works fine.

I tried the two methods, having Lightroom copy the cr2 into the library and creating a dng on import. The cr2 converted properly but the dng conversion was corrupted in both sample files. LR error message: "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged."

Macusers. I put in the 10th may mac cr2hdr20bit binary in the plugin folder and 70D dual iso files works fine. I say you find the 10th may windows binary and you should be fine?

Probably the same but I believe N/A compiled the mac binary 10th may or was is Kichetof? Can,t remember. I don,t see why the exe won,t work though. Could it be acr related? I ran the plugin on my macbook pro in lightroom 5.

Update:
I got it fixed.
I replaced files(exif, lib folder) inside cr2hdr.lrplugin which relate to exiftool

Hi, I tried to use this plug in to convert my image. It's really easy to use. However, every time I converted my image, when I check the exif info after conversion, the converted file has a 1.0 sec at f1.0 exposure, and lose other exif info (lense, focus length, GPS, etc) as well. The model showed Canikon.

I tried to reinstall exiftool 9.99 from their homepage. It didn't solve my problem.
I am using LR 6.1.1 on Yosemite 10.10.5

I just read some recent post. I confirmed that I have exiftools in my /usr/bin folder. That could be the older version of it. Does it matter?

What could be the problem here?

It is working in Windows. Re-read the posts. Make sure you got the latest version and delete or update the lib folder.

Right, not a Windows only issue because we also tested it on Mac's with the same results. dmilligan has merged cr2hdr 20-bit with his revised DNG branch. If there is going to be a fix for the 70D issue it will probably come from the new branch first:
